Since 1975, People's Resource Center (PRC) has been bringing neighbors together to respond to hunger and poverty in DuPage County. Nearly 27, 000 DuPage residents rely on PRC for help each year. With a team of over 2, 500 volunteers, we offer nutritious food and other basic necessities like clothes and rent assistance for people facing tough times. And we connect people with resources—education and tutoring, jobs, technology, art, a caring community—to create a future of hope and opportunity for all. PRC is able to provide these services because of the generosity and support from our neighbors. More than 2, 500 volunteers work with our small staff offering time, skills and resources to help their neighbors. Donors contribute food, clothing, books, computers, and money to support our work. The majority of our support comes from caring neighbors right here in DuPage County. Food Pantry: PRC provided families with 38, 707 grocery carts filled with nutritious food, including fresh produce, frozen meats and bread.

Clothes Closet: Clients selected 10, 021 pieces of gently used, seasonally appropriate clothing for their families. Homelessness Prevention and Social Services: 910 families received emergency financial assistance. Hundreds more received referrals, connections to government benefits, and information about area resources. Adult Learning and Literacy Program: Hundreds of adults enrolled in ESL classes, studied for GED and citizenship exams, or worked with tutors to achieve their learning goals. 40, 021 free books were distributed. Computer Access and Training: Hundreds of adults registered for computer classes. 680 families received free refurbished computers for their homes. People's Resource Center's Job Assistance Program helps unemployed or underemployed people in our community find jobs through mentoring and workshops focused on interview preparation. PRC connects our job seeking clients with their own volunteer job coach to build skills, help with resume and interview preparation, and plan for job searches. Our partnerships with area libraries have allowed the Jobs program to expand our reach into the community. We now offer monthly workshops at the libraries that are open to everyone. The popular topics include: Are you LinkedIn, Am I Ready for My Job Search?, Master the Phone and Virtual Interview, Negotiate the Job Offer, and 1:1 Mock Interviews. We also partner with area employers to connect pre-screened, qualified candidates with employers seeking to hire.
